Mr. Quarantine

could only sit here, stunned, when I read the following quote by the first American quarantined since 1963:
"I'm a very well-educated, successful, intelligent person," he told the paper. "This is insane to me that I have an armed guard outside my door when I've cooperated with everything other than the whole solitary-confinement-in-Italy thing."
This may even be beyond my ability to be snarky, or flippant, or funny, or any of those tools I use to confront outstanding stupidity...but maybe after a day or two.
And he's not even going to be prosecuted? I'm just going to go lay down for awhile....

Ikea day and Democrats don't know s*#t about transportation

Well the gf and I finally picked out the Wall O Ikea as well as other misc knick-knacks at Ikea today. We were lucky, it wasn't very crowded at all, and we were able to get in and out fairly quick. Once again we rented our handy igo car, the Honda Element this time. Was able to fit many of the goods we thought about paying to have delivered, so that saved us some money. We still are getting the wardrobed cases and doors delivered though, since they are too long, even for the Element.

The second issue, Democrats and transportation, is inspired by my recent experiences with the CTA and IL tollways, the responsibility of Da Mayor and Gov. Blogo respectively. Now you know neither of them ever take public transportation, nor do they drive on our tollways. If they actually used them every day there would be no way they would have screwed them up so bad. Someone actually told me that the Gov actually flies back and forth between Chicago and Springfield, that's great a real man of the people....

First Pics from the Turks and Caicos

Here are some pictures from our trip to the Turks and Caicos. I've finally found the cable that allows me to transfer the pictures from the camera to my computer, hurray!! I've only posted a few here, the test will be eventually posted on my Flickr account. The pictures included here are one of the beach where the wedding took place (can you spot the Diesel?), another of me posing in front of a painting of a map of the Turks and Caicos, and finally one fo the gf next to one of the bikes we used to scout out the island.
It was so hot that we could only ride early in the morning or at dusk. She also had a lot to do with the wedding, so we were kept pretty busy with that as well. I was a little disappointed that we were too busy to Scuba, but we were there for a reason, and not a vacation.

Still no pics

No luck yet finding the cable, so no pictures. Now sure why you should care, I'm not really that great of a photographer. Tons of pics of gf eating, since sitting at a table is about the only time I wasn't swimming. I also have a couple of long range shots of Shaq. I didn't want to get too close to him, since I didn't want to seem star struck.

Well Looptopia is tonight, and that should be fun. I also have my graduation reception tonight, so you know what that means.....a long night of drinking! The best kind!!

Back from vacation

The gf and I returned from the Turks and Caicos Monday night. What a trip, it was a lot of fun. Very sunny, very very warm, and plenty to eat. I promise to post some pictures soon. I have yet to find the usb cable needed to hook up my Sony camera with my Toshiba laptop. I'm sure it's in one of the dozen boxes we have yet to unpack.

We are Moved

The gf and I have successfully completed out move to the new Logan Square apt. Now all we have left is to unpack everything, and in order to do that it looks like a wall of Ikea may be required. The old apt had a lot more closet space, so no we have no where to hang our clothes. It's a pretty small problem, a bigger problem is the lack of cabinet space in the kitchen. If the gf doesn't like the kitchen, then I don't get to eat like I used to! We hope to solve our problems there with more shelves from Ikea.

The unpacking has to wait though, since tomorrow we are traveling to the Turks & Caicos islands! A friend of hers is getting married, and she's standing up in the wedding. It's only a long weekend, but the weekend after that is graduation so it's out too. I basically packed up the majority of stuff, and it looks like I'll be doing most of the unpacking as well. Not complaining though since the gf is working and not slacking or avoiding the work.

I also think I may be developing a blog addiction (I know, so 2006), but I also have a small blog at a site called matador, which is dedicated to travel. I like it because you can attach a google map to every posting. Of course the majority of my postings are located in Chicago, I do get to throw in some fancy shots of the Turks and Caicos. Of course I haven't figured out how to get those maps to show up on my profile, but I imagine I'll eventually get around to it.
